Ungating is one of the most important aspects when it comes to selling on Amazon, and it's key to prioritize it. To put it simply, ungating is a way to remove restrictions on specific brands, so that you can sell those brands on Amazon. Below we'll go over the process.
One of the absolute best ways you can ungate brands is buying the item directly off Amazon, as they tend to trust themselves the most.
First, find the item that matches the brand you want to ungate. Be sure when finding your item, that the seller is listed as "Amazon.com Services LLC", as this heavily helps when Amazon is reviewing your ungate.
Ungating a brand requires you to buy 10 quantity and it MUST reflect on the invoice(s). If the item doesn't allow you to purchase 10, you can choose to buy 5 twice, or any number of orders that add up to 10.
Example: User wants to be ungated with Nike, so they found a listing that allows you to buy 10 pairs of Nike socks. The item shows that it's shipped and sold by 'Amazon.com LLC' which is ideal.
🔔When buying the item, be sure your name and address match your seller account, then proceed. It's important to understand that finding a profitable item is NOT the goal with ungating. Flipping items at a loss/break-even is expected with ungating, your real goal is unlocking the brand for future profits. NOTE: It is advised to NEVER return any items that have been used for ungating. Amazon is highly against this, goes against their intentions and can put your account at risk.
Once your order has shipped, head over to your Amazon order page, and download the invoice for your order.
We recommend naming the file in a specific way relating to the brand. For example, if the ungate is for Nike, title the file "NIKE INVOICE". We have noticed positive results using this method.
Confirm the item is correct, select your item condition (New), then click "Apply to sell".
Hit next a few times until you're presented with this page:
From here, hit the checkbox for every single row, then provide your invoice. Provide your contact information at the bottom, then hit submit.
Next head on over to the page, and enter an ASIN for the product. Usually it's best to use the same ASIN you used for buying the product.
